When someone asks ” What’s your favorite design?” , I am always at a loss for words. How could I choose just one? I always thought that what I designed the latest is my favorite!
However after designing 200 + patterns over a period of 10 years, I have noticed how certain stitches always get selected or how a particular colour makes it into the design. Some designs become closer to heart when there is a story behind it’s creation. Others because it got translated from my head into a pattern quickly.
When Audrey of Canoe Mtn Designs suggested a Designer’s Favorite pattern sale event, I jumped right in and this time I had a clear idea which pattern was going to be part of this event!

While designing patterns for Variegated! , the magazine that I ran along with my daughter for a year, we decided to dedicate the month of May to Mother’s Memoirs! And as this event is happening in May, it is only fitting to feature my favorite pattern from that issue! Not to mention it’s scorching hot here in South India and we desperately need a some relief!
I love Bruges Lace! I have made doilies using Bruges lace and have even collected some vintage patterns that incorporate Bruges lace in a wide variety of projects.
As I was thumbing through my collection for ideas, I noticed that there were not many patterns for the Bruges Lace Hat! Also if you have seen the Bruges Lace designs, you might have noticed that the strips that make up the lace have mostly rounded edges!
I sat down to design a top down hat and was pleasantly surprised when my hook and yarn were deftly guided by the hands with clear instructions from the head . While I was still writing down the pattern, an idea for a matching scarf came into fruition! Presenting the Nostalgia Hat! Clicking the picture below will take you to my Ravelry Store . Add the pattern to the basket and key in the code Faves24 to get the discounted rate! If you have trouble with Ravelry, scroll down to another picture if this same hat and click on that image. That will direct you to my Payhip store where the discount is already applied and you can download the pattern.

Therefore, in order to participate in this event I threw my hat in the ring , pun intended 😉

No need for coupon code for the scarf! Just click the image and it will take you to the Ravelry page. Now add this pattern separately to the cart and the discount is taken care of.
