Fall is my favorite season , when the weather is just perfect neither too hot nor too cold! A perfect time to sit outside and enjoy the changing colors of the leaves !
In South India , we don’t experience this glorious change in leaf colors . Hence I decided to bring this color change indoors through my crochet design.
Coasters are the perfect way to do this as they are quick to make and can immediately spruce up the table !

Fireflies Coaster
Materials:
Yarn : Laura knitting cotton( or any 4-ply
cotton)
Color A green : 1 ball
Color B yellow : 1 ball
Color C maroon : 1 ball
Hook : 5.0 mm
Additional materials
Stitch marker
Pair of Scissors
Yarn needle
Blocking mat
Blocking pins
Gauge: round 1 diameter = 2”
Finished size: 4.5” from point to point
Stitches and Abbreviations:
Beg – beginning
Ch – chain
Sp – space
St – Stitch
Sk – Skip
Sl st – slip stitch
Dc – double crochet
V st – (dc, ch2, dc) in sp or st indicated
FPDC – front post double crochet
Difficulty: Easy
Notes:
Please pay attention to where you place the post stitches.
Pattern Instructions
Round 1: With color A, in a magic circle, Ch4, (counts as first dc + ch1), dc in the ring (ch4 and dc count as first Vst), ch2, (Vst, ch2) 5 times. Pull ring closed, join with sl st to 3rd ch of beg ch4.
Fasten off color A – 6 Vsts, 6ch2 sp
Round 2: With color B, join with sl st to the top of first dc of any V st, ch3(counts as dc), fpdc around the same st, sk ch1 sp of the Vst, fpdc around the next dc, dc on top of the same dc, *sk next ch2 sp, (dc, fpdc) in next st, sk ch1 sp of V st, (fpdc, dc) in the next st, repeat from * around. Join with sl st to the 3rd
ch of beg ch3. Fasten off color B – 12 fpdc, 12dc.
Round 3: With color C, join with sl st to the first st of round 2, ch3(counts as dc), fpdc around the same st, 1 fpdc in each of the next 2 sts, (fpdc, dc) in the next st, *(dc, fpdc) in the next st, 1 fpdc in each of the next 2 sts, (fpdc, dc) in the next st, repeat from * around. Join with sl st to the 3rd ch of beg ch3. Fasten
off color C – 24 fpdc, 12dc.
Round 4: Join color A with sl st in the first st of round 3, ch1(does not count as st), fpdc in the same st, 1 dc in the same st, 1 fpdc in each of the next 4 sts, (dc, fpdc) in the next st, *(fpdc, dc) in the next st, 1 fpdc in each of the next 4 sts, (dc, fpdc) in the next st, repeat from * around. Join with sl st to the 3rd ch of
the beg ch3. Fasten off color A – 36 fpdc 12 dc.
Weave in the ends and enjoy!
