Hello everyone! March is almost upon us and I am once again playing catch up in this blogosphere:)
I am 90% done with with my deep clean with just half a room worth of stuff to sort and either put away or give away!
I had promised a few more free patterns for February and I will be putting those up on Ravelry and PayHip by the end of this month. They will be forever free:).
I do have more free patterns in store for you all but this time it is a collaboration with several other designers!
Nichola of Elimee Designs called for crochet designers to come up with floral motifs for the year long crochet along using the Overly Mosaic Crochet technique
I had missed the previous call and was not going to miss this one! I brought out my grid notebook and off I went charting my buttercup into a floral strip for the CAL!
The designers have all briught their A game for this event and I will let you judge that staement with the visual!

Unbelievable, right?? This year long crochet along started in Jan 2026 and it will be my turn for the March portion of the CAL.
I chose buttercups as they are yellow and yellow is my daughter’s favorite colour and they are simple, common, and hardy, therefore they have come to represent humble joy, innocence, youthful energy,. They are often woven into daisy chains or gifted as simple tokens of affection. Hence a perfect strip to add to your floral blanket!

Presenting the participating designers…. Please show your love by following these designers on social media and liking their patterns. It means a lot!
I am participating under my design store name – ViVaCrochet!

New to Overlay Mosaic Crochet?
Don’t worry, simply start out by watching this video tutorial which covers the basics, or read the summary below.
- All rows are worked from right to left.
- The yarn colour changes with every row i.e. you ONLY use ONE colour per row – ignore any changes in colour of the chart squares, they simply show what the final design will look like. You will need to fo at the end of every row.
- Every row contains the same number of stitches (st).
- The first and last st in every row is a single crochet (sc).
- The first st is indicated by a square with an ‘A’ or ‘B’ in the chart.
- The final st is indicated by a square with a ‘+’ in the chart.
- Back loop only sc (BLOsc) are indicated by a square without a ‘X’ in the chart.
- Front loop only double crochet (FLOdc) are indicated by a square with a ‘X’ in the chart.
- All FLOdc are worked into the same-coloured stitch two rows down.
- The red lines on the chart indicate the repeating section.
Here is what was shared for the months of Jan and Feb 2026!

Coming up in March is my buttercup pattern strip!

Here are some of my work in progress pictures to entice you to guve this a try:) I used the technique of not cutting the yarn at the end of each row and hence had only two ends to sew in when I finished. Sure you would need a little extra yarn but I love this method:)

For making this sample strip with two motifs I had used Cotton yarn that is locally available in India. I used approximately 80 yds of green and 80 yds of yellow for the 2 motif wide repeat. For the yarn requirements for the blanket please refer to the host post .

Each pattern repeat is 48st wide. This blanket can be crocheted any multiple of 48 wide (+3 st to even out the design). For example, a five repeat blanket would require (48 x 5) +3 = 243 st.
