Hygge is a word in Danish and Norwegian that describes a cozy, contented mood evoked by comfort and conviviality.
When Lisa of Green Fox Farms Designs called for designers to come together for a Hygge Blog hop, I jumped in head first and then I googled the meaning of Hygge wink wink:)
This is what I learnt about Hygge :-
“Hygge activities are those that make you feel comforted and content. This could be anything from sitting by a fire with a good book, having a picnic with loved ones, or enjoying a home-cooked meal. It can even be simply taking time to be with your thoughts.” says the post from this site.
The post goes on to add the following
Hygge doesn’t have strict rules, but it does have guidelines to help you feel cozy and happy. Follow these tips to help you get started.
- Keep things simple.
- Value the time you have with people you care about.
- Find your special, cozy spot.
- Enjoy the here and now.
- Turn down the bright lights and enjoy low light or candlelight.
- Take a break from the digital world by switching off screens and devices.
- Relish activities that make you feel relaxed and at home.
- Get outside and connect with nature.
- Make sure to do nice things for yourself regularly.
- Lastly, remember to appreciate the little things that make everyday life special.
I started designing in earnest and took the first point to heart<3. I saw a paper ornament on Pinterest and wanted to replicate that in crochet.

This just wasn’t cutting it:( I went back to the drawing board to come up with this…

A simple motif made twice and seamed gives the perfect Bloom Bauble to decorate a cozy space!
As I was getting ready to get this little beauty off to the host of the hop, life threw a huge curve ball! I felt a void that sucked the energy clean out of me 😦 The tips of how to practice Hygge helped me to find my way back to the present . I must say that Lisa is the most gracious host who gave me time to get things updated and get the pattern to you all.
