Spring Blooms

Welcome back to the third free pattern for this month!!! Woohoo! I am super excited to see which of these free patterns will be made by you all!

Today I bring you a simple yet elegant flower motif that you can choose to use any way you see fit!

Worked with 4ply cotton these flowers measure 3″ across making it perfect to be used as fridge magnets.

Materials Required

Tiny bits and bobbles of any flower colour 4 ply cotton

Hook: 3mm

Yarn Needles to put in the ends

Optional: Round Magnets and Glue Gun

Stitches and Abbreviations

Beg Beginning

Ch                 Chain

Dc                 Double crochet

EDc Extended Double crochet (refer notes)

P Picot (refer notes)

Sc                 Single crochet

Sc2tog Single crochet 2 together

Sk                  Skip

Sl st                Slip stitch

Sp                  Space

St                   Stitch

Yo Yarn over

Difficulty: Easy

Notes

1: Extended Double crochet is worked as follows : – Yo, insert hook in st or sp indicated, yo, pull up a loop, yo, pull through 1 loop, (yo, pull through 2 loops) twice.

2: Sc2tog – Single crochet 2 together is worked in the 2 ch3 sp that form the end of one petal and the start of the next petal. This is worked as follows – insert hook in the ch3 sp indicated, yo, pull up a loop, insert hook in the ch3 sp of the next petal, yo, pull up a loop, yo pull through all 3 loops. This is used in round 2 to set up the space for the petals in round 3:)

3: Picot is made as follows : ch3, sl st into the last st made.

4: Each petal is formed in the space indicated as follows :

round 1 – (ch3, 3dc, picot, 2dc, ch3, sl st in the same sp)

round 3 – (ch3, 3Edc, picot, 2 EDc, ch3, sl st in same sp)

5: Neither Ch1 nor Ch3 counts as a stitch.

Instructions

Round 1: With any flower colour, in a magic ring, [ch3 ( does not count as st), 3 dc, p, 2 dc, ch3, sl st into the ring – one petal made] 5 times .

Round 2: Ch1( does not count as st), insert hook into the last ch3 sp of the previous round, yo , pull up a loop, insert hook into the next ch3 sp (this will be the first ch3 of previous round), yo , pull up a loop, yo, pull through all 3 loops (sc2tog made), ch3, (sk the next 5 sts, sc2tog in the next two ch3 sp, ch3) 4 times. Join with sl st to the first sc2tog.

Round 3: Ch1 (does not count as st), (3 Edc in the next ch3 sp, p, 2 EDc in the same ch3 sp, ch3, sl st into the same sp – one petal made) 5 times. Fasten off. Weave in the ends and let your imagination soar on how to use these tiny beauties!
