“Animals are such agreeable friends. They ask no questions; they pass no criticisms.” – George Eliot.
Truly our lives are enriched by the presence of these furbabies that worm their way into our hearts! Even the most afraid human being, afraid of being with an animal , can get won over in a heartbeat. Talking from personal experience here:)
A little back story is needed to prove the above point:)
When we moved houses about 14 years ago, we were lucky to find a home with a garden. In a span of 3 months , a cat decided to make the garden her home for her three kitties! We were smitten! We would spend endless hours watching them play, watching the mom teach her little ones everything she knew! I still was not comfortable bringing them indoors! Cut the chase to 3 years later, my son rescued a little furbaby and brought him home! The little guy was barely 2 months old and so malnourished! With a lot of TLC and good food , he soon became the darling of the household.
Meanwhile the cat community began to thrive in our little garden and we witnessed several generations come to life and a few who did not make it despite our best efforts!
By this time I was comfortable feeding the babies but still would not attempt to pick them up! We landed in a situation where we had to adopt a kitty (again just about 2 months old) who had a hip fracture:(
The Vet suggested we keep him indoors as he felt that this cat had a lot of love to give! He was right ! It has been 6 years since he came into our lives and oh how much he has changed me!
He has shown what is unconditional love, how to make the most of his life even if he has only 2 fully functional legs!
Hence when , Jo Baird asks for a blog hop for pet appreciation month, I will always be there to put up my crochet design that will show my love for them! A lot of crochet designers have come together to put up patterns that will be available as free download on their feature day!
Check out the below image for the list of participating designers!

Last year , I had participated in this event and had designed a pet blanket- Heart Stealer Pet Blanket , available on Ravelry!

This year , I decided to make them a little cravate to make them look more dashing( if that is even possible!) Using Tunisian Crochet technique and cotton blend yarn, I designed this cute accessory for my babies!

What do you think? Aren’t they the cutest?? Well like any pet parent , I obsess about them! My phone is filled with pics of them! I put them to sleep like I would a human baby:) I wake up at the crack of dawn because they must be fed! Would I trade this for anything in this world? No , never!
I would love to offer this pattern for free download from my Ravelry store as well as my Payhip store(for those who have difficulty accessing Ravelry), But hurry , this pattern is available for free down load only on my feature day that is May 11th 2024!

There are 3 variations for this pattern and it is easily adjustable . For a smaller version (shown as the top most pic in the image below) just chain 35 and work the pattern . For the one without the button band (the bottom most pic in the image below), you need to chain 35 and start the decrease section immediately after the foundation row!

I hope you enjoyed this cute little accessory to make for your pets or to gift to pet parents. Would love to see your makes , when you decide to make them!. Using tags such as #vivadesigns #CatsCravate will ensure that I get to see your makes!
Have a wonderful Caturday wherever you are! Stay happy , stay blessed, stay petfriendly!
